Magnetic North can be considered a base camp, a general point of reference for my wanderings and ramblings.

Five minutes from the Appian Way, when it was raining like mad (Rome, 2010)
Ah, the Appian Way, probably the most fascinating part of Rome that I encountered when I visited over Easter. I started at the Forum Romanum and walked south till I passed Ciampino Airport. At this point, the road (the old Appian Way) seemed to vanish into a trail of shrubs and brush, at which point I struck out across a field heading towards a small town. Pizza, gelato and a train back to Rome… not many photos but many great memories.
