Hin Chua's Magnetic North

If you happen to be in Kaunas, Lithuania over the next week, you’ll undoubtedly stumble across the Kaunas Photography Festival. Over the course of several nights, they’ll be showing a series of Photography Duels where selected photographers from competing countries will be pitted against each other in a battle to the finish (or more likely, gentle applause).

Included in the proceedings will be Germany versus Russia (no history there!), Portugal versus Brazil (ditto) and Britain versus Spain.

Now just like the English cricket team, the Brits have decided to beef up their forces by summoning a few obvious ringers who are based on their shores, so despite having taken considerable delight in England’s thumping at the hands of Germany a few months ago, I find myself summoned to arms (fortunately, like the Springfield Power Plant Softball Team, there are some decent hitters)
